Preserves and Pickles

Our preserves and pickles are home-made by members of the Kingston branch of The Women's Institute.  This very active branch of the WI has a full programme of events during the year, and they meet on the first Thursday of each month in Kingston Parish Hall at 7:30pm. They are always looking for new members, so do drop in to find out more.

These high quality products use only natural ingredients (with no artificial colours or preservatives) and every sale directly benefits the Kingston WI funds. They are made in very small batches, and we only have a few jars of each, so if you'd like to try some, don't miss out -  order now! All supplied in pretty, 8oz or 12oz  hexagonal jars. We are able to offer these products by post if you live outside of our delivery area - contact us if you'd like to know more.

Gift Pack of Kingston WI Preserves

This is a lovely way to give a locally made gift to your friends and relations. The boxes hold three jars which you can either choose yourself by selecting the gift box, plus three 8oz or 12oz preserves from the preverves and pickles page, or select the lucky dip option where we'll choose three different preserves for you. Suitable for all 8oz and 12oz  jars shown on the preserves page. Decorated by hand.

Kingston WI Chilli Jelly

A very pretty, zingy jelly to wake up those taste buds! Made by Pat to a Nigella recipe using home grown chillies, this jelly is excellent with cheeses and cold meats. (Please note that due to size these are not suitable for the gift box!) A great Valentine's Day gift for the man in your life!

Made from fresh ORGANIC Seville oranges, Jan's marmalade has a lovely citrus flavour and a firm set. A great start to the day!

Kingston WI Plumberry Jam

A succulent combination of locally grown plums and blackberries made by Lynne. Spread onto a thick slice of FlintOwl Bakery seeded bloomer for a marriage made in heaven!

Kingston WI Strawberry Jam

Made by Pat using a delicious combination of English grown Sweet Eve and Camarillo Strawberries and enhanced with the juice of a Kingston grown lemon! Spread onto scones with cream for a truly scumptious cream tea!

Kingston WI Hegderow Jelly

 Bev has spent the autumn foraging the local hedgerows for ripe berries and has made this wonderful deep coloured jelly. Made from crab apples, blackberries and elderberries - delicious! Can be used as a natural colouring for icing - a teaspoon or two will give your icing a wickedly deep hue to liven up your cakes!

Kingston WI Quince Jelly

This delicious jelly is perfect on hot buttered toast or fresh crusty bread.This versatile jelly is also excellent with a tangy goat's cheese such as Golden Cross Goat Log, as an accompaniment to meats (particularly game,) and to enrich savoury gravies and sauces. This particular version has a lovely amber colour, and is made by Diana with Quince fruits harvested from her own garden.

Kingston WI Rowan and Crab Apple Jelly

A lovely tangy jelly that compliments game, pork and cheese. Made by Bev from locally scrumped fruits (well really Bev, I'm suprised at you....) Contains Rowan berries, Crab Apples, Thyme, Lemon Juice and Sugar. (Please note that due to size these are not suitable for the gift box!)

Pear, Apricot and Ginger Chutney

This is a delicious flavoursome chutney made by Bev which is excellent with meats (particularly ham or gammon), and with cheeses. Contains locally grown pears, dried apricots apples, onions,ginger, tomatoes plus sugar vinegar and salt.
